It’s been over a year since I posted to this weblog, but I’ve got new motivation since we are in the midst of planning another Disney trip – this time during Alison’s Spring Break. It’s still a secret to her, though, so don’t ask her about it yet!

The wake up call from Mickey came at 6:50 AM, and the morning starts off rocky because Alison wants to wear a SpongeBob SquarePants band-aid on her chin because she banged it on the edge of the sink counter while brushing her teeth the night before. She insisted on the band-aid before going to sleep even though there was no cut inside or out (thankfully). She also wants to take her Koala bear from her birthday party to the Magic Kingdom today. Both of these are not popular ideas with us. Alison doesn’t respond well to the direct “no” approach from me, so I depart for the lobby and leave Rayma to try the gentle negotation technique which she is far superior at.

The day started early with a wakeup call from Mickey (really, the voice on the phone is Mickey!) so we would be ready for our character breakfast at Cape May. We headed to Cape May, whose location I had scouted out the evening prior so we didn’t have to hunt for it in the morning, and arrived right on time. As we rounded the corridor and Alison could peek into the restaurant she caught a glimpse of Goofy and got so excited she had to jump into Rayma’s arms.

Monday, August 11, 2003, Day 1 – or should I say “Night One” since we didn’t arrive in Orlando until 6:30 or so. By the time we gathered our luggage, waited for the shuttle and got to our resort it was close to 8 PM.

I forgot to reinstall AOL for Mac OS X when I restored my hard drive, so I am posting this by booting in Mac OS 9, connecting to the internet with AOL via a dialup connection with my built in modem. At 75 cents per local call I’ll be limiting my internet time!
