Even before we decided to go to Disney World for our “last minute before school starts family vacation” I had stopped by our local Half Price Books on South Lamar and bought three different guide books about the place. Before I had even looked at a printed page I had spent innumerable hours on the web comparing prices of packages, airfares, ticket options, hotel options – the combinations were mind boggling.

Heading for the House of Mouse

With the first day of kindergarten fast approaching Rayma and I decided that Alison deserves a vacation. We contemplated Galveston, Padre Island, Sea World and/or Fiesta Texas in San Antonio, Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels … and finally decided to spend a week at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

Yes, it is expensive, yes it will be hot, yes we know it is peak season and the place will be crowded. But it’s a week of no responsibilities for any of us and that will be quite literally priceless.

Texas basketball

Rick Barnes has brought Texas basketball to a level that it has never been before. Ranked number 3 in the country, above conference foes like Oklahoma and Kansas. The Horns have been featured on ESPN’s “Big Monday” game 3 times in the last 4 weeks, and are the talk of all the college basketball analysts as they proclaim the incredible talent of TJ Ford, Brandon Mouton, and James Thomas.
